Pavel Zharov, a professional architect and iconographer, founded Zharov Studio in Minsk, Belarus in 1975. In 1997 he headed a school for iconography in the Minsk Diocese. After receiving Master Degrees from The Saint Petersburg Theological Academy and Seminary’s Faculty of Iconography and from The St. Tikhon University’s Faculty of Sacred Arts (Moscow, Russia), Pavel’s son Andrei Zharov joined his father at Zharov Studio. Both are members of the Artistic and Architectural Council of the Minsk Diocese.

Pavel Zharov and Andrei Zharov have accumulated a vast knowledge of iconography and church architecture. They have researched and reintroduced authentic methods of work with wax, glue and oil compositions which were used by the ancient masters. As a result, Zharov Studio was chosen to work on the restoration of several important 12th – 15th century Belarussian churches.  They also were commissioned to complete the new chapel at Minsk International Airport and recently exhibited at the Vatican in Rome.  For a better understanding of their work, see some of the numerous articles writing by them in the “Articles” section.
